Our Price Lock Promise
Your plan’s price never goes up while you keep it. Here’s exactly what that means. No tricks.
Keep the same plan, and you pay the same plan price for as long as you have it. We will never raise it.
1. What is locked
The plan price: the regular monthly or yearly fee for your hosting plan (Silver, Gold or Platinum), in the currency you signed up in.
It stays the same at every renewal, for as long as you keep the same plan on the same billing cycle.
Your plan’s main features stay too: its storage, number of websites and number of email addresses won’t be cut while your price is locked.
Short version: same plan = same price. Every year.2. What is not locked
These are billed separately, and their prices can change:
- Taxes. Sales tax, GST/HST/PST or QST are set by governments. If a tax rate changes, your bill changes by that amount only.
- Domain names. Registries set domain prices (for example, the .com and .ca registries). Your first year may be free. After that, domains renew at our listed price at that time. We’ll email you before any domain renewal.
- Extras you add. Paid add-ons you choose to buy, such as extra storage or paid security tools.
- A different plan. If you move to another plan, see section 4.
We never add surprise fees to your hosting bill. No setup fees, no “service fees”, no card fees.
3. How to keep your lock
Your price stays locked as long as:
- you keep the same plan, and
- your account stays active. If a payment is missed, you have 30 days to pay before the lock ends. We’ll email you reminders first.
If you cancel and come back later, you sign up at the price at that time. That new price is then locked.
4. Changing your plan
You can move up or down whenever you like. Your new plan is charged at its listed price on the day you switch, and that price is then locked.
Switching between monthly and yearly billing on the same plan uses that plan’s listed monthly or yearly price on the day you switch. That price is then locked.
5. Changes to the service
Technology changes. To keep your site safe and fast, we may update our servers, software, security settings and dashboard. For example, we may upgrade PHP versions, move you to newer hardware or change security rules.
These changes never raise your plan price, and they never cut your plan’s storage, number of websites or email addresses. If a change needs something from you, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice, except for urgent security fixes.
6. If we ever stop offering your plan
We don’t plan to. But if we ever have to retire a plan, we will not raise your price. Instead we will:
- email you at least 60 days before, and
- offer you a plan with the same or better features at the same price or less, locked the same way, or
- if you’d rather leave, refund any time you’ve paid for and not used, and help you move your site out, free.
7. Things outside our control
Some events are outside anyone’s control: natural disasters, major power or internet outages, war, government orders, or attacks on the wider internet. If one of these stops us from providing the service, we aren’t responsible for the delay, and we’ll restore service as fast as we reasonably can.
These events never give us the right to raise your locked price.
8. Cancelling
- No contract. Cancel any time from your account, by email or by phone. It’s as easy as signing up.
- No fee to leave.
- Your service keeps running until the end of the period you’ve paid for. You won’t be billed again.
- Yearly plans: we email you before every yearly renewal, so it’s never a surprise.
We don’t refund time you’ve already paid for when you choose to leave, except where the law in your province or state says we must. Domain fees can’t be refunded once registered, because the registry charges us right away.
9. When we can end your service
We can suspend or close an account only if:
- payment is more than 30 days late, after reminders, or
- the account breaks our Acceptable Use Policy, for example spam, malware, illegal content or overloading shared servers, or
- we give you at least 60 days’ notice and refund any unused time you’ve paid for.
“Unlimited” features (like email addresses on Gold and Platinum, and traffic) are for normal use by a small business website. They follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
